How to preview a website in GoDaddy before you change the DNS

June 14th, 2012

When you are changing hosting companies, you often need to preview the website on the new hosting company while you are building the website. But how is this done? Different hosting companies have different methods to accomplish this preview. This little tidbit is a hard to find one and required a phone call to GoDaddy.

Once the website hosting account is set up at GoDaddy and associated with a domain name. Again, this is BEFORE you change the DNS settings as the domain registrar. You can preview the site at GoDaddy by looking here:

http://www.yourwebsitename.com.previewdns.com

Notice that it’s your full website name and the dot com and then another dot, and then previewdns dot com. Again, this is for GoDaddy website preview before you change the DNS to actually make the domain registrar point to GoDaddy.
