Who Is My Website Hosting Company?
December 18th, 2008Many folks don’t know who is hosting their website. Here’s how I find out.Go to Whois.DomainTools.com and enter your domain name.
Scroll down and look for “Registry Data”.
Take note of what’s listed in the “Name Server” fields.
More often than not, you can tell who is your website hosting company by simply looking at the name server fields. If you look up my domain (AldebaranWebDesign.com) you’ll see that my nameserver fields say:
NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
NS2.BLUEHOST.COM
This is because BlueHost.com is my hosting company. If you don’t recognize the name, just look it up in Google or go directly to the “company.com” – leave out the “ns1.” part.
If your website is down, you’ll need to contact your hosting company, and hopefully this article will help you find out who that is, in the event you don’t recall.
