What Happened to DreamHost Live Chat?

July 11th, 2012

Once upon a time, DreamHost (my hosting company) offered Live Chat for it’s VPS (Virtual Private Server) clients. Then it expanded to all clients. Then it disappeared. I wondered, is it ever coming back?

So I emailed DreamHost support and asked and got this reply:

Thanks for contacting Tech Support. We disabled the Live Chat
service so that we could provide priority support to the large
number of incoming support tickets we were receiving. The Live
Chat will be returning for VPS customers soon. We apologize for the
inconvenience. If you have any other questions let me know and I will
assist you further.

They sure are polite aren’t they? So they must have not been able to keep up with the chat given the tickets they had to deal with. But good news for us VPS clients (we are special), it will be coming back “soon”. I’ll be keeping an eye out for it, because I sure miss DreamHost’s Live Chat. I used it frequently and was one of the reasons I moved from Shared Hosting to VPS in the first place.
